2008 saw a registration of over 400 kids on the Co-op City Tennis Courts.
It was a banner year. Lots of Kids, Lots of tennis.
On Sunday June 29th, Ma-ih Watkins won the 12U Girls Singles tournament at Riverbank State Park. Ma-ih an Honor student, attends PS 160 in Co-op City. She is playing tennis for only two years. She is focus on the courts and loves the game.

On July 19th, Co-op City hosted the Metro Regional Rally sponsored by the US Tennis Assoc. A Rally is a wonderful tennis carnival where the children participates in various tennis challenges such as "Quickstart
tennis" , "Challenge the Pro.", "How fast can you serve", (check by radar gun), "Obstacle Course Court", "Hula Hoop and Jumprope contest." "Hit the Target". The children won lots of prizes. There was lots to eat and drink. Special thanks to Jeff Fairbanks of the Eastern Tennis Asso. for helping us. He was awesome.
We acknowledge and thank all the other NJTL Coaches and their teams for attending this event. You help to make it the success it was.

In USA Team Tennis, the team concept emphasizes fun, fitness, and friends. The focus in this kind of play is on enjoying the exhilaration of exercise and refining the skills that make tennis fun for players at all ages and levels of competition.
USA Team Tennis (Youth) is a 6 to 8 week program of team practice and match play for boys and girls, ages 6 to 18, who want to play tennis on teams. Teams are comprised of players of similar age and skill, and they compete against other teams from the same geographic region in one of three league divisions: 12 & under, 14 & under or 18 & under.
